The House Republicans showed their hands last week. They had an opportunity to cut another mere $22 billion for the next budget. The proposal failed by a vote of 281-147 with 92 Republicans joining the 189 Democrats voting against the measure. What a bold move it would have been to cut another $22 billion. President Obama voted present twice this week. Always the reluctant one to be pinned down for any decision, he jumped on the Freddie and Fannie problem and offered three potential solutions.
