Kids Separated at the Border-Trail of Tears

Here’s an article from the Boston Globe:

The Trump administration’s policy of splitting up families is creating a population of dislocated and frightened children

Every night before bed, Wil, who is 6 years old, says his prayers and then kisses two printed-out photos of his mom and dad that are taped on the wall by his bed goodnight.
His foster parents, Coryn and Silas, try their best to comfort him. You’re safe now, they tell him. But Wil’s anxiety remains.
“You can’t take away that they miss their family,” Silas said. “They miss their parents.”
US Border Patrol agents separated Wil from his father six months ago, after the pair made the long journey from violence-torn Honduras to the US border in Arizona, attempting to claim asylum there.
In the intentionally brutal logic of President Trump’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the US border, Wil is actually among the lucky kids

That this is Trump’s policy is mentioned twice in this article.

“We have to break up families. The Democrats gave us that law. It’s a horrible thing where you have to break up families. The Democrats gave us that law and they don’t want to do anything about it.”
— President Trump, in a round table on sanctuary cities in California, May 16, 2018

“Yet this administration is separating kids from their parents and unable to account for 1,500 lost children! Shame.”
— Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), on Twitter, May 27, 2018

Trump blames Democrats for a law that separates undocumented immigrant children from their families. Some Democrats blame Trump’s administration for losing track of nearly 1,500 immigrant kids.

The Facts

These claims mostly revolve around “catch and release,” the practice by U.S. authorities of releasing children and asylum seekers into the community while they await immigration hearings. Many fail to show up for their hearings and remain in the country without legal authorization.

The Trump administration says these legal “loopholes” abet the trafficking of children while allowing smugglers and bad actors to profit. Immigration and civil rights groups say that it’s misleading to portray the asylum process as a loophole and that, in recent years, thousands of people legitimately have sought refuge in the United States from the violence in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

‘We have to break up families. The Democrats gave us that law.’

Trump says his administration’s policy of separating children from their families can be traced back to a Democratic immigration law.

What is the truth. The Trump administration is enforcing the immigrations laws as they are written in this country. The liberal media sees it as a way to tar Trump with actions that 99% of us in this country find inhumane. The same situation that occurs when a single parent is sentenced to prison and the children are left to be raised by relatives or foster care.

Always overlooked by those media is the  blatant intent by human smugglers to create this very situation to skirt the laws of our country. Also overlooked is the fact that 78% of Americans want this stopped and Democrats refuse to listen. They will listen after November.

Hi Chris,Refer to our post, but in previous years the main event has been held on The Great Lawn at Broadwater Parklands, Southport between 4pm-8pm. There has been over 20 food trucks and BBQ’s as well as plenty of activities for the kids and local musicians playing at the main stage. To finish off the day, there is typically a fireworks display at around 8pm. Other highlights have included an Aussie Sporting Zone with activities from the Gold Coast Suns, the Gold Coast Titans and Queensland Cricket. There will also be heaps of other activities spread all over the Gold Coast, including RSL lunches, beach cricket and live music. Best regards, Jess
