According to Reuters GM is losing $49,000 on each Volt sold. This excludes the $7,500 you pay the buyer with your tax dollars. This is  the Chicago Tribune headline: “Closings of Chicago sites cut carbon dioxide emissions.” Owned by Midwest Generation, the company  confirmed their closing last week. At their peak, the two plants supplied power to roughly 1 million homes. In the past 2 1/2 years, 120 of the coutry’s 520 coal-fired plants have been closed.
