Gillette Pays the Price for Social Issue Advertsing

I hate it when I’m right. If you click on the link( above ) you will see the ad in question and the original blog entry predicting dire consequences for Gillette for this and the second ad where a Dad teaches his transgendered son to shave.

Parent company P&G reportred a net loss of about $5.24 billion for the quarter ended june 30, due to an $8 billion non-cash writedown of Gillette. The razor company is “shifting the spotlight from social issues to local heroes”

I’m guessing several marketing people who were part of selling this ideal to P&G are seeking work. I’m enjoying my razor and blades from Harry’s.

This is also a message to those running for office in 2020 that building a campaign around social issues may be a really bad idea.
