This is  the Chicago Tribune headline: “Closings of Chicago sites cut carbon dioxide emissions.” Owned by Midwest Generation, the company  confirmed their closing last week. At their peak, the two plants supplied power to roughly 1 million homes. In the past 2 1/2 years, 120 of the coutry’s 520 coal-fired plants have been closed. The EPA is getting ready to implement a de facto cap and trade bill. They hope to crack down on coal fired power plants all across the USA to meet reduced carbon dioxide level by 71% by 2014.
