What should have been a case of self-defense turned into a racial issue. The mainstream media made that happen. When it was finally disclosed that the defendent, George Zimmerman, was mixed race, the flames were lit. The President weighed in with, “if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon”. Jessie and Al went on camera to do their thing. All of that helped.
Without all this, the prosecutor would have folded his weak case. But, pressure forced him to go to trial. He hung his case on child abuse. The jury came back fast with not guilty.
The media is outraged. The big fire they lit may go out completely. No Rodney King outcome so far. No cities burning or people dying because of a media-contrived racial incident. What a bitter disappointment. The only life they destroyed was that of George Zimmerman who may be looking over his shoulder forever. Despite the jury verdict. Obama is not done either, he may push for a Department of Justice investigation. Of course, there will be those civil suits. Trayvon’s family suing Zimmerman, Zimmerman suing the state, the Federal government suing whomever.
Attorney General Eric Holder addressed the shooting death of Trayvon Martin on Monday, his first remarks on the subject since the acquittal of George Zimmerman, the Associated Press reports. Zimmerman was cleared of all charges by a six-woman jury in a Florida court on Saturday evening.
Holder said the death of Martin was the result of “a tragic, unnecessary shooting.”
“I want to assure you that the Justice Department will continue to act in a manner that is consistent with the facts and the law,” said Holder. A civil rights suit? Are you kidding me. Holder’s going to spend money on yet another lost cause. Maybe the Justice Department should come to Chicago where on a normal weekend 6 kids die by gunfire, most younger than Trayvon.
Sore losers, those media folks. Here’s the headline from the Huffington Post:
George Zimmerman Not Guilty: Jury Lets Trayvon Martin Killer Go
From the USA Today:
After Verdict, Can Racial Rift be Healed?
From the Chicago Tribune:
Verdict Sparks Outcry
See, when you start something you like to see it go to your intended conclusion. If you read those headlines, they want to see civil unrest. They want to make a non-racial incident become a racial headline.
Here’s a lesson for all of us. If the media wants to get you, they get you. Fairness and truth mean nothing. And, if your government decides to pile on too, you are done. You are toast.
Poor George Zimmerman, he got his day in court. A jury of 6 women saw all the evidence and decided he acted in self-defense. He’s a free man and should be able to go on with his life and put this behind him. But the Media and the government don’t like the outcome. They aren’t done with George.
There’s courtroom justice and then there’s media and government justice. One doesn’t follow the other. In the courtroom you are innocent until proven guilty. No double jeopardy. In the media you are guilty until they get tired of trashing you. As long as they can keep it alive, they will. And, evidently Obama’s Department of Justice has taken a special interest in this case. So, somehow they will try to circumvent the little double jeopordy issue.
So, in this America, you are guilty until the media and your government tire of you regardless of what the trial said. I keep looking in the Constitution and can’t find that clause. Must have been put in recently, like the last 5 years.
Postscript: If journalism were practiced in this country, some journalist might direct you to go to Google and type in Trayvon’s Tweets and read the 150 pages of tweets from Trayvon. Kids will be kids, but this kid was no Rosa Parks.
