America”s Solutions, Newt Gingrich’s little money maker, ran this story about Obama’s visit to Brazil.

Obama Supports Drilling in Brazil So America Can Import More Oil

President Obama visited Brazil this past weekend, an opportunity he used to praise the Brazilians for their forward-thinking energy policy. More specifically, Obama applauded Brazil’s decision to drill offshore for oil and gas, the very action that he and his administration have worked tirelessly to ban and restrict in the United States:

“By some estimates, the oil you recently discovered off the shores of Brazil could amount to twice the reserves we have in the United States.  We want to work with you.  We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.  At a time when we’ve been reminded how easily instability in other parts of the world can affect the price of oil, the United States could not be happier with the potential for a new, stable source of energy.”

President Obama frequently cites the need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, but as with so many other parts of his agenda, rhetoric does not match reality: He flew to Brazil to congratulate them for drilling for oil and said he looks forward to importing more oil into the U.S.

Meanwhile, because of the Obama administration’s war on American energy, gasoline and diesel prices in the United States are skyrocketing. Rigs are leaving the Gulf of Mexico and signing contracts with other countries. President Obama’s drilling moratorium last summer and the subsequent refusal to issue new drilling permits caused the loss of at least 20,000 jobs. Domestic production of oil will drop by 220,000 barrels per day in 2011.

If President Obama wants a real “stable source of energy,” why is he keeping American oil off limits?

Come on folks. What is with our President. He cuts off drilling here and gives money to Brazil. He won’t move forward with Canadian pipeline projects. He is getting drilled for going after Libya for their oil. Well, maybe once or twice in conservative media, nothing like Bush with Iraq.

Does he want to drive energy prices to rates that will put us in full-blown depression?
