Charlie Rangle admitted to the media this week that he hasn’t read any version of the proposed health care bill. Nor does he intend to read any. I’m not sure Charlie can read, but give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he can, he says it would take two days for him to read. He doesn’t have the time and he says it would take two lawyers to help him understand any of the bills.
In an earlier blog, I accused the media of being lazy or deceptive or both by not reading the bills either and giving us the essence.
Finally, a group, called Family Security Matters, did the work. Here is their recap.

This bill would drive unemployment, taxes, and the deficit through the stratosphere. It would turn hospitals into the DMV, dramatically reduce our access to healthcare, let bureaucratic slime decide when it’s time for us to die, and guarantee that no one in his right mind goes to medical school. As for the damage this would do to individual liberty — let’s just say that any doubts about the Moonbat Messiah being a socialist have been put to rest.
If this nightmare bill isn’t Obama’s Waterloo, then it’s America’s. Pass this on to everyone you know!”

Nowhere in any bill is there tort reform, a key change needed to reduce health care costs. Nowhere in any bill is there a provision to increase the population of doctors and nurses. If legislators took a pause and addressed both of these health care costs would drop. We can’t take on new patients in a system strapped. We can’t get bright young people to go to medical school when their malpractice insurance premiums and income taxes take 6 months of earnings every years. We can’t get more doctors while congress keeps cutting the budget to fund internships. They say they will drastically reduce medicaid and medicare fraud. Why not do it now and show us you can?
Like Universal Health Care will work, the politicians are treating the boil while the tumor grows.
