One and Done

August 28th, 2010

Even David Letterman, the late night left wing lug nut and sexual harasser, the guy who told Bush jokes until last week, lest he upset Obama, threw in the towel. His joke this week, Obama is on vacation, his 7th since he became president, he will be on vacation full time after his one-term as president. Wow, that must hurt Obama.

I have never seen a man more unhappy in his job than Obama. No wonder he’s on vacation so much, he hates his job.

Obama can’t handle any kind of criticism. He is going to get a daily dose from now until 2012. Some Democrats running for election this fall are running ads that they don’t agree with their president. How bad is that? When the Democrats lose the house and maybe the senate this fall, Obama will get the full blame. From the Democratic Party, the media, and the far left. It will be brutal. If he loses both the House and the Senate some of his prize projects the past 18 months may be revoked or dismantled. Like Health Care, the Stimulus bill, and the Arizona lawsuit. Gitmo will go on. There will be a new Attorney General and trials will not be in NYC. The Arizona lawsuit will be dropped.

He will be a man without a party, without a legacy, and without much pride. A second term will not be an option, by his own volition. He will have had enough.

Combine an unhappy man in a job he doesn’t like and can’t do with derision and daily criticism and you have a job opening.

He will be known as the worst president in our history, worse than Jimmy Carter and that says a lot.

Speeding Through Red Lights

August 19th, 2010

President Obama likes to campaign on the same theme. He says Republicans want the keys to the car back. They can’t drive, per Obama. Last time they had the keys they drove in the ditch. He’s worn this analogy out, but keeps using it just the same. Since he’s either on vacation or fund raising, he gets to use it a lot.

I have a driving analogy for the President. If you speed through red lights sooner or later you will hurt yourself or someone else.

Closing Gitmo was going to be hard. No one wanted terrorists in their back yard. But, without checking the light first, Obama hit the gas. He still isn’t through that intersection.

Pushing through the stimulus bill was based on a promise that unemployment would drop to 8.5%. The caution light went on. This was 2,800 pages of pork and subsidies to states. But, the president coined the phrase, shovel ready projects. That lit the red light. Pedal to the metal, Obama went right through the intersection.

Heath care reform was unpopular with a majority of the public. Hit the gas. Sped right through the intersection.

Arizona lit the red light on illegal immigration. Polls showed over 60% of the public approved the Arizona bill. Speed thorough the intersection, sue Arizona.

Going to try terrorists in NYC. Very unpopular. Red light. Whoa, stopped for that one.

Oil spill. Ignore it. Wait, was that a red light. Past the intersection, jump in and slam BP with a $20 billion pot for damages.

Deficits up, debt up, Wall Street down, unemployment not dropping, housing market not getting well, Afghanistan not going well, drilling moratorium in the Gulf unpopular, polls way down, fears about mid-term elections growing. Keep the pedal to the metal, pass a $26 billion bill to bail out medicaid for the states and to keep teachers off the unemployment rolls.

Say the Mosque at Ground Zero is OK. Then say it’s not what he was talking about. Right through that intersection. Got a few dings in that one. Had to cover his truth with lies.

All those intersections at high speeds. What’s the damage? Wrecked the economy. Wrecked the Democratic Party. Wrecked his poll numbers.

Mr. President, you are the last person in the world to preach to others about how they drive. It’s time for you, or someone who can give you advice, to explain what a red light looks like so you can stop.

No one can afford the carnage from your driving any longer.

Obama’s Achilles Heel

August 1st, 2010

When your favorite pronoun is “I” and you are on TV every day, you stack up a lot of promises. There is no prioritization between your promise to close Gitmo and your promise to win in Afghanistan. Hundreds of promises made, few kept. Beginning with Gitmo.

Of those few kept, most are not popular. You did health care reform, but the majority of the public is unhappy about that. You did the stimulus deal, but it didn’t work. You made another of those big promises ” unemployment will be below 8%” if we do the stimulus. You did financial reform. This was really twofold. First, to show you were stomping on Wall Street. Second, to protect Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and your party from more debate about Freddie and Fannie and their roles in the financial mess. Won’t work. The end result will be millions in campaign contributions to the Republican Party from the business community and drips to the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, the war in Afghanistan is going south. And, you are out campaigning again. In a campaign, the truth rarely means anything. But, for a sitting president who’s next campaign is months away, voters keep score. Your themes remain old, stale, and stilted. Blame Bush for everything. Talk about jobs saved. No one is buying that, Mr. President. There have been jobs lost and billions spent. It just doesn’t play, but you keep dragging it out.

There you have it, Mr. President. You are like Al Hirt, blowing your horn every hour, every day. I did this, I will do this, I plan to do this, I, I, I , and more I. But, you haven’t done the important things the voters want done. They want jobs and they are done blaming Bush for that. They want spending under control and you want more spending. They want something done to reduce the influx of illegals and you sue Arizona. By the way, remember when you said you would hunt down Bin Laden, how’s that going?

Al Hirt makes beautiful music. But, you Mr. President are simply a blow hard and the people are on to you. For the next few months you might want to keep a lower profile. Maybe even find a cave, like Bin Laden and head there for a while. The public is tired of your face, your “I”‘s, and your broken promises.

Obama Scorecard

November 15th, 2009

Oh how the mighty have fallen. The Messiah, the chosen one, the charismatic one, the one who went down to congress earlier this year to remind them, “we won”, has hit the skids. Big time.

Funny thing about Americans. We may buy something, but we can get buyer’s remorse quickly. The country has buyer’s remorse for Obama.

You can lie to us about how many jobs the stimulus bill has generated. You know the “we won” bill. Double count, have those who received money jack up the job total, and just make stuff up. Does it make you look good? No, even the mainstream media are on you for this. But, like the scoreboard at the end of the game, you can’t lie about your poll numbers. They don’t come from your den of snakes, but from the people.

Here’s your scorecard, Mr. President.
Approval rating among likely voters:slightly less than 50%
Independents who oppose health care: 58%
Your rating for honesty: 33%
Rating for firm and decisive: 27%
Right decisions for the country: slightly less than 50%
Stimulus package working: 33%
Expect more partisanship ahead: 55%
Trust me/trust you on economic decisions: 62% me/27% trust you

So, Mr. President, keep doing what you are doing. Go around the world and apologize for we Americans. Try the CIA and the Gitmo guys in New York City. Appease the unions, the environmentalists, the ACLU, the bright Red socialists in your immediate circle, and all the other groups you feel are so important in your life. There’s an old saying, even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then. You and your ACORN friends are helping all the blind in America to see clearly.

You are writing your history in a blur. Here’s the short version. Over jobbed and surrounded by bad advice, President Obama will super-cede Jimmy Carter as the worst president in my lifetime. His actions in the first year will cost him a clear Democratic majority in the congress and the support of the public and his party.

Run that by Rahm Emmanuel and David Axlerod and see how they think they can fix it for you.

Stimulus Bill is Working

August 5th, 2009

Finally, we get it. The stimulus bill is really working. Who is benefiting from the $700 billion package? State and local government, that’s who. So, your tax dollars are going from the Federal government to some state and local governments to supplement the taxes you are not paying to them. You buy less, so less sales taxes. Your house is worth less, so less real estate tax revenue. State and local governments would never cut costs, so they need your money. Now, they just get it from Washington.

What are they doing with the money? They have hired more union workers. The Bureau of Labor shows 12,000 new employees added to the rolls of state and local governments.

And, they are passing out raises. Pay and benefits rose 4%. In the private sector it was 0.8%, the lowest since tracking started in 1980.

Other state and local spending was flat after adjusting for inflation. So, bottom line, state and local government income is down substantially. But, expenses have gone up. They have kept everything but employment costs flat and used Federal money to add employees and pass out raises in a recession where the private sector has cut 1.3 million jobs and virtually cut raises.

So, stimulus funds let state and local government avoid making needed cuts. What will they do when the stimulus money dries up? They will raise taxes to recover the lost revenue from the Feds.

Isn’t all this reassuring?
