Trump and the NFL

First, let me say, the country has never run better in my lifetime. Anyone who wants a job can find a job. We are at peacetime and seems we might stay that way since we are amping up the military and remind those who threaten us that we are prepared to defend our freedom. Businesses are doing well, taxes(Federal) are down and charitable giving is up. I  have never cared one iota about any aspect of a Russian involvement in an election or whether Trump should meet with Putin so 90% of the news today is meaningless to me. I used to appreciate news when it was news but care not about panels of morons giving me their opinions on matters.

But, the NFL has never run worse in my lifetime. The preseason has kicked off and it will be another year of boycotts for the product.

kneelingOnce again, Dolphin players choose to kneel or stand with a raised hand.

The man who is the equivalent of Trump for the NFL put out this statement before the season began:

POLICY STATEMENT

The 32 member clubs of the National Football League have reaffirmed their strong commitment to work alongside our players to strengthen our communities and advance social justice. The unique platform that we have created is unprecedented in its scope, and will provide extraordinary resources in support of programs to promote positive social change in our communities.

The membership also strongly believes that:

1. All team and league personnel on the field shall stand and show respect for the flag and the anthem.

2.The Game Operations Manual will be revised to remove the requirement that all players be on the field for the anthem.

3. Personnel who choose not to stand for the anthem may stay in the locker room or in a similar location off the field until after the anthem has been performed.

4. A club will be fined by the League if its personnel are on the field and do not stand and show respect for the flag and the anthem.

5. Each club may develop its own work rules, consistent with the above principles, regarding its personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the anthem.

6. The commissioner will impose appropriate discipline on league personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the anthem.

Dolphins

The Dolphins gave the Broward County police association discounts for tickets to show their respect for first responders. After the first game the association give the Dolphins the boycott.

President Trump once again gave his opinion about kneeling for the anthem. The NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, was silent.

When employees and their unions take over the companies they work for bad things happen. When a billion dollar business hires a CEO and pays him $40 million a year for losing business, bad things happen. When a country hires a Roger Goodell to run the biggest business in history, Obama, bad things happen. When a corporation hires a loser to run the most successful corporation in this country, GE, Jeffery Immelt, bad things happen. He was Obama’s guy to give him leadership on running the country. When a city, San Francisco decides no rules are needed to run a city, bad things happen.

san franciscoYou can shoot up on the street, take a dump on the street, sleep on the street, panhandle, but God forbid, don’t use a plastic straw.

Keep in mind, one leader at the top can make or break a country, a city, a business, or a sports empire. Pete Rozelle put the NFL on the map, Roger Goodell may take it off. Jack Welch, deemed the top CEO in the world put GE on the map, Jeffery Immelt took it off the Dow, Obama was taking this country off the top, Trump is putting it back on top, will the new mayor of San Francisco, London Breed, fix that mess, time will tell.

The NFL is running out of time.

Good blog. I don’t watch football hardly at all anymore. There other places to protest what they want to protest beside when the National Anthem is being played.
